Bloomberg Believes Medical Marijuana Is Potentially Dangerous, Is He Right?

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has never been too keen on marijuana, and apparently sees no upside in its medical usage. Yesterday on his radio show, Bloomberg referred to medical marijuana was "one of the great hoaxes of all time."
"The bottom line is, I'm told marijuana is much stronger today than it was 20, 30 years ago," said Bloomberg. "That's one problem. Number 2, drug dealers have families to feed. If they can't sell marijuana, they'll sell something else. And the something else will be something worse. The push to legalize this is wrongheaded."

Bloomberg's logic essentially suggests that readily available marijuana would cause lowly drug dealers to move to more ominous drugs. Of course, there are many medical experts that directly oppose Bloomberg's view.
"Mayor Bloomberg's statement that medical marijuana is a hoax is tantamount to saying that the moon landing was faked," said Dr. Sunil Aggarwal, MD, PhD.
